GLIDE Web Revamp

As a designer at GLIDE, I contributed art direction and site layout designs that would eventually be used in the org’s new website. The project started with department-wide ideation, classifying user pain points in our structure, and collaboration with a 3rd party branding company Toi. The focus of the new site was to be ease of use, and a heavy visual emphasis on volunteers, clients, and staff that make up the heart and soul of GLIDE.

The redesign began with a problem: too many users were calling into GLIDE, confused by our website’s layout and needing help finding the information they were looking for. GLIDE’s complicated phone tree didn’t help much either. The goal: to create a new site that could be image-heavy, decluttered of text, and more easily navigable to the user.

The methodology: we looked at the information that was most requested and most important to the average user—our story, how to contact us, and the basic services we provided. We made this information more accessible by condensing all of the text information, cutting down the number of top nav options, eliminating all of the nav nesting options, and greatly reducing the overall number of site pages.

The result: a streamlined, modern site that showcases some smooth iconography, an organic flow, and a visually captivating design built around photo and video elements.

I contributed to this project:

Wireframing, creative design input, iconography, marketing and UI expertise.
